 SNAREGRAFT  v1.3.0
 Hybrid Snare Instrument
 Tonecraft Tokyo
======================================================================

* Overview

SNAREGRAFT is a snare instrument that grafts synthesized layers and
snare wires onto your own snare sample.

  - Add synthesized layers and snare wires to your own sample
  - FLUX: pitch and brightness vary on every hit, fully reproduced
    in the same clip
  - Simulates wear state as the transport progresses
  - 100 factory presets organized by genre
  - Updated interface with a metal-panel look
  - Display of the FLUX variation over the last 8 hits

The built-in synthesized layers produce sound even without loading
any samples.

Pro features are visible on screen with a PRO badge, but cannot be
operated (hover the mouse over them to see a description in the bar
at the top). From v1.3.0, saving and deleting user presets is a Pro
feature. Factory presets and loading presets saved with v1.3.0 are
available in the free edition as well. FLUX adjustment and KEY TRACK
are also Pro features (FLUX is fixed at 20 in the free edition).

* Requirements

  OS               Windows 10 / 11 (64bit)
                   macOS 11 or later (Apple Silicon / Intel)
  Format           Windows: VST3 / Mac: VST3, AU
  Output           Stereo
  Input            MIDI note
  Sample rate      Host dependent
  Window size      1200 x 750 (fixed)

* Installation

[Windows]

  1. Extract this ZIP file.
  2. Copy the SNAREGRAFT.vst3 folder to the following location:

       C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\

  3. Launch your DAW and perform a plugin rescan.
     (If you copy the file while your DAW is running, changes may
     not take effect.)

To uninstall, delete the SNAREGRAFT.vst3 folder you copied. To also
remove your user presets, delete %APPDATA%\Snaregraft\Presets\ as
well.

[Mac]

  1. Extract this ZIP file.
  2. Copy SNAREGRAFT.vst3 and SNAREGRAFT.component to their
     respective locations:
     (~ represents your user home folder. Open it by pasting the
     path into Finder: Go -> Go to Folder. Create the folder if
     it does not exist.)

       SNAREGRAFT.vst3      -> ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
       SNAREGRAFT.component -> ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

  3. Open Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal), paste
     the following three lines one by one, and press Return:

       cd ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
       xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine VST3/SNAREGRAFT.vst3
       xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Components/SNAREGRAFT.component

     If nothing is displayed, it succeeded. If you do not run
     this, macOS will show messages like "is damaged and cannot
     be opened" or "cannot be opened because the developer
     cannot be verified", and the DAW will not load the plugin.
     This command only removes the quarantine attribute that
     macOS attaches to downloaded files (you need to run it again
     when updating or reinstalling).
  4. Launch your DAW and perform a plugin rescan.
     (If the AU plugin does not appear in Logic Pro or other
     DAWs, restart your Mac.)

To uninstall, delete SNAREGRAFT.vst3 and SNAREGRAFT.component that
you copied. To also remove your user presets, delete
~/Library/Snaregraft/Presets/ as well.

* Quick start

  1. Install the plugin and insert it on a track in your DAW.
  2. Send MIDI notes or press the PLAY button on screen to trigger
     sound.
  3. Drop a snare audio file of your choice (WAV, etc.) onto the
     waveform area.

For detailed instructions, see the bundled SNAREGRAFT_Manual_EN.html.

* About the download warning

[Windows]
Because the software is not code-signed, your web browser may show
a warning when downloading the ZIP. In that case, choose to keep or
allow the download.

Also, before unzipping, right-click the ZIP file and open
Properties. If you see "Security: This file came from another
computer..." at the bottom, check "Unblock", click OK, and then
extract the files.

[Mac]
Run the command in Step 3 of the installation instructions. Do the
same when updating or reinstalling.

This product is a VST3 / AU plugin. It does not launch on its own;
your DAW loads it as a plugin.

* Version history

[v1.3.0]
  - The help text in the bar at the top is now in English when the
    OS display language is not Japanese
  - FLUX adjustment and KEY TRACK are now Pro features (FLUX is
    fixed at 20 in the free edition). Songs made with v1.2.0 that
    set FLUX to a value other than 20, or turned KEY TRACK on,
    will sound different
  - New preset file format (extension .snaregraft). Presets saved
    with v1.2.0 or earlier (.sgraft) cannot be loaded
  - Fixed: pressing CLEAR during playback could occasionally crash
    the plugin
  - Fixed: the rendered sound could differ slightly depending on
    the DAW buffer size (with large timing variation, overlapping
    hits, or WEAR in use)
  - Fixed: in a session with sample embedding turned off, saving
    while the sample file was temporarily missing erased the
    recorded sample location
  - Fixed: presets saved after reopening a session contained the
    sample audio itself, making the files large
  - Fixed: changing the DAW sample rate turned stereo samples into
    mono

[v1.2.0]
  - Added Mac support (VST3 / AU)
