 VELCANTO  v1.0.0
 Vocal Plugin for Streamers
 Tonecraft Tokyo
======================================================================

* Overview

VELCANTO is a vocal plugin that turns a streamer's singing voice
into a voice made for singing, with knobs free of technical terms.
It is a sister product of VELVOX (for the speaking voice).

  - Simple operation with no technical terms needed (3 knobs:
    SHINE "Cuts through", SPACE "Hall", and ECHO "Echo")
  - Zero latency design (the free edition introduces no latency)
  - Lightweight performance for smooth use on the same PC as your
    streaming software
  - Distortion prevention that automatically tames peaks at the output
  - OUT meter that shows at a glance whether your level is right
    for streaming
  - InfoBar that explains what improves on mouse hover (shows English
    on an English OS, and Japanese on a Japanese OS)
  - 5 scene-based presets for easy setup
  - Supports both mono and stereo

                 DAWs supporting VST3 or AU

Window size      720 x 440 (fixed)

* Installation

[Windows]

  1. Extract this ZIP file.
  2. Copy the VELCANTO.vst3 folder to the following location:

       C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\

  3. Launch your DAW and perform a plugin rescan.
     (If you copy the file while your DAW is running, changes may
     not take effect.)

To uninstall, delete the VELCANTO.vst3 folder you copied.

[Mac]

  1. Extract this ZIP file.
  2. Copy VELCANTO.vst3 and VELCANTO.component to the following
     locations respectively:
     (~ represents your user home folder. You can open it by pasting
     the path into Finder: Go -> Go to Folder. Create the folder if
     it does not exist.)

       VELCANTO.vst3      -> ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
       VELCANTO.component -> ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

  3. Open Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal), paste the
     following three lines one by one, and press Return:

   cd ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
   xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine VST3/"VELCANTO.vst3"
   xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Components/"VELCANTO.component"

     If nothing is displayed, it succeeded. If you do not run this,
     macOS will show messages like "is damaged and cannot be opened"
     or "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified",
     and the DAW will not load the plugin. This command only removes
     the quarantine attribute that macOS attaches to downloaded files
     (you need to run it again when updating or reinstalling).
  4. Launch your DAW and perform a plugin rescan.
     (If the AU plugin does not appear in Logic Pro or other DAWs,
     restart your Mac.)

To uninstall, delete VELCANTO.vst3 and VELCANTO.component that you
copied.

* Using with OBS

Because OBS cannot load VST3 plugins directly, install the free OBS
plugin "atkAudio Plugin" and run VELCANTO inside it.
OBS Studio 31.1.1 or later (64bit) is required.

  1. Download and run the installer for your OS from the atkAudio
     Plugin download page:
     https://github.com/atkAudio/PluginForObsRelease/releases
  2. Launch OBS and open Filters for your microphone audio source.
  3. Click "+" and add "atkAudio Plugin Host".
  4. Click "Open Plugin Settings" -> "Options" ->
     "Scan for new or updated VST3 plugins" to let it scan for
     plugins (first time only).
  5. Select VELCANTO from the list, click "Load Plugin" to load it,
     open the interface, and adjust the knobs.

* Quick start

  1. Play your favorite song and sing along. If your voice gets
     buried in the accompaniment, turn up SHINE.
  2. If you want room resonance, turn up SPACE. If you want
     karaoke-style echo, turn up ECHO. If unsure, choose a preset.
  3. Look at the OUT meter while singing to see if the bar stays
     within the target band (if it does not reach it, adjust your
     mic input level; the volume fader in the OBS mixer is applied
     after the plugin and does not affect the meter).

For detailed instructions, see the bundled VELCANTO_Manual_EN.html.

* About the download warning

[Windows]
Because the software is not code-signed, your web browser may show
a warning when downloading the ZIP. In that case, choose to keep or
allow the download.

Also, before unzipping, right-click the ZIP file and open Properties.
If you see "Security: This file came from another computer..." at
the bottom, check "Unblock", click OK, and then extract the files.

[Mac]
Run the command in Step 3 of the installation instructions. Do the
same when updating or reinstalling.

This product is a VST3 / AU plugin. It does not launch on its own;
your DAW loads it as a plugin.

* About VELCANTO Pro

For users looking for more advanced features, an upgraded edition,
"VELCANTO Pro", is also available. In the free edition, TUNE and
SING are displayed with a PRO badge and cannot be operated.

  - TUNE (PITCH / ROBOT / KEY / AUTO)
      PITCH pulls off-key notes toward nearby notes (recommended:
      40-60). ROBOT creates a mechanical voice effect. KEY
      constrains correction to the song's notes, and AUTO sets KEY
      automatically just by singing one chorus (accumulating
      20 seconds of singing). The needle above PITCH shows whether
      your voice is low or high.
  - SING
      A button for switching between singing and talking. Turn it
      off during talk between songs to return to your natural voice
      without cutting off resonance and echo abruptly.
  - User presets & Pro presets
      Save and delete custom presets, export and import preset
      files (.velcanto), and access two Pro presets (P01 STEADY
      VOICE and P02 PITCH ASSIST).
